Creating or Inserting a New Product

You can create a new product, or insert a new product as a child under one or more parent products.

Create a New Product

You can create a new product reference.

  1. From the Edit section of the action bar, click New Product .
    The New Product dialog box opens.
    Note: If an object is selected when you click the command, it is automatically unselected. To create a new drawing and insert it in the structure, click Insert New Drawing. For more information, see Insert a New Product in a Structure.
  2. On premises only: If specialization types are available, from the Type list, select the type of product you want to create.

  3. In the Template list, select a template and authoring CAD for the new product:
    • 3DEXPERIENCE: Creates or inserts a 3DEXPERIENCE product.
    • Other CAD (CATIA V5, SOLIDWORKS, ...): Creates or inserts a 3DEXPERIENCE product with CAD master.
  4. To customize the title of the product, in the Title box, enter a title.
  5. Enter the values for the attributes in the corresponding boxes.

    Note: If custom attributes are available, they are also displayed in the dialog box.

  6. Optional: If you are creating a 3DEXPERIENCE product with CATIA V5 master, specify a file name in the File Name box.

    By default, the file name corresponds to the title of the object. If you specify a title, the file name is updated accordingly. You can overwrite it, and specify the file name of your choice. Once the file name has been manually modified, modifications of the title do not impact the file name anymore. If the file name is empty, a default file name is computed for the object based on its name.

  7. From the Credentials list, select the credentials (collaborative space, organization, and access role) to assign to the new product.

    Notes:
    • If you belong to only one organization, the organization is not displayed in the list of credentials.
    • By default, the credentials selected in the app's preferences are used. If you select other credentials, they are used for this operation only and do not modify your preferences.

  8. Click:
    • Create and close to create only one product and close the dialog box.
    • Create to create the product, and then create another one.

The product is created and appears in the user interface.

Insert a New Product in a Structure

You can create a new product reference, and add it as a child instance to one or more selected products.

  1. Select one or more parent products.
  2. Right-click the selected objects, and select Insert New Product .
  3. If you selected several products, click OK to confirm you want to insert a new product under multiple parents.
  4. Follow Step 2 to Step 8 of the section above.

    Note: If you selected a CATIA V5 product before clicking the command, the CATIA V5 template is automatically selected.

The new product is created, and inserted as a child instance under the parent product(s) you selected.
