Defining Correspondences between Images

You can define corresponding elements between images. It can be a correspondence between points, lines or faces.


Before you begin: Draw the 2D shape of your images.
Important: To make this command available, select the From canonic views option from the Reconstruction Mode section is selected in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Digitized Shape > Photo to Shape > Reconstruction. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: Reconstruction.
Note: All images loaded in the Image Board panel are used during the matching process.
  1. Optional: Click to display the images in two separate viewers.

    Note: Separate viewers allow you to zoom in every image independently. For more information about multi and dual viewers, see Image Board.

  2. From the Reconstruction section of the action bar, click Element Matching .
  3. From the first image, select a point, a line or a face.

    Notes:
    • You can select as many elements as needed.
    • The correspondence between faces is only possible for closed geometrical shapes with the same number of points.

    The Matching Assistant panel appears and displays the selected element.

  4. Optional: If you have selected several elements, you can:
    • Change the reference to be matched first by clicking another reference.
    • Delete the first selected reference by pressing Enter or clearing the Reference to match option.
  5. Select the matching element on the second image.

    Notes:
    • If you have selected several elements in the first image, you need to keep the order of selection in the second image.
    • After a first reconstruction, when the matching process is in an advanced state, matching candidates are suggested for points.

  6. For line or face elements only, click the origin point on the second image.

    The matched elements are highlighted in green.
    Note: You can change the line color using the Can be reconstructed option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Digitized Shape > Photo to Shape > General. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: General.
  7. Optional: If a third image is loaded in the Image Board panel, repeat Step 4 or clear the Reference to match option.
