About Creating Parts

A part is considered as a raceway part if it is inserted using the Electrical Raceway 3D Part Design app.

This page discusses:

Part and Equipment Definition

This section explains what a part is and what an item of equipment is.

A part is a 3D entity obtained by combining different features. It can be inserted on trays. Examples include tees, elbows, gaskets and flanges.

An item of equipment is also a 3D entity and can be connected to trays. Examples include pumps, actuators and tanks.

Parts placed in the design are generally considered as standard parts. If the same part is placed in two different locations in the design, then these two parts have the same part number, however their instance ID, instance attributes, and instance positions are different.

A part can have multiple representations. Each representation is used to meet specific design criteria. For example, an envelope representation may be used for interference verification while a simple line representation may be used when generating congested plan drawings.

Part Attributes

When you create a part using Add > Content or insert an existing part using the Electrical Raceway 3D Part Design app, a set of raceway attributes is included as part of the creation process. These attributes, along with the type, make up the definition of a raceway part. You cannot remove any of these attributes.

Sub Part type

This attribute defines the part subtype. This allows you to search the database based on this specific part type.

Standard

This attribute defines the standard with which the part complies. This allows you to search the database based on this specific standard.

Nominal Size

This attribute defines the size of the part. It is used to drive other geometric attributes such as the height and width.

End Style

This attribute defines how other parts can be connected to this part. This attribute is used for compatibility verification as well as for selecting the parts that can be properly connected to this part.
