Transferring Components Between Spools

You can transfer components from one spool directly to another spool using the Transfer Spool command. You can choose to transfer to an existing spool or to a new spool (depending upon certain conditions).

This task shows you how to:

Transfer a Component to an Existing Spool

You can transfer components from a spool to an existing spool using the To Existing Spool command.

  1. In the work area, select the component in the spool you want to transfer.
  2. On the context toolbar, click Transfer Spool members .
  3. Select the component again.
Green arrows labelled 1 and 2 are displayed at the extremities of the component (if the component is a tee, a third green arrow 3 is added).
  4. Select an arrow.
  5. In the Transfer Spool dialog box, select a spool.

    Important:
    • The existing spool must have one of its components connected with the component you select in the original spool.
    • The existing spool must have the same mode (In Link / In Move) as the originating spool.

If one of these conditions is not satisfied, a warning is displayed and you will not be able to proceed with your selection.

  6. Do one of the following:
    • To confirm your choice and initiate the transfer, click OK.
    • To cancel the transfer, close the dialog box.
If you click OK, the components are transferred.

Transfer a Component to a New Spool

You can transfer components from a spool to a new spool using the To New Spool command.

Important: The To New Spool command described in this section is only available in the context toolbar if there is more than one component in the spool you select.

  5. In the Product / Product DS dialog box, enter a part number or accept the default, and then click Finish.
