Resizing the Network

You can resize the network using the Propagate Size command.

Before you begin: Open an object containing the network you want to resize.
  1. From the Fluid Design section of the action bar, select Part Mode as process mode.
  2. From the Selection Options dialog box, select Part Selection .
    For more information about the different selection options, see Selection Options and Process Modes.
  3. Select a route or a part.
  4. On the context toolbar, click Propagate Size .
  5. Select Manual Selection and then select one of the following commands:
    • Component to modify the nominal size of the selected components only.
    • All Network to modify the nominal size of all the raceway components linked to the selected component until a different nominal size is detected.
    • Until Next Junction to modify the nominal size of the raceway part until the next raceway part with different nominal size is found.

    According to the command you choose, the corresponding raceway components are highlighted.

  6. Select any highlighted object in the work area to start the resize process.
    The Table Browser dialog box appears and lists the available values from the nominal size table.

  7. Select the nominal size you want to apply to the route.
    The Propagate Size From x To y dialog box appears and lists the nominal sizes.
    Notes:
    • This list is generated from the Tray Specification table in the Data Setup in case of specification driven raceway design, or in the standard of the selected part in case of non-specification driven raceway design.
    • The Table Browser may appear to let you choose a directional length. For more information, see Directional Point.
    • The status is associated with a color:
      • Blue: no new reference is selected by default for resize. In the New References / Catalog Name column, click Select From Filter... in the list. The Filtered Part Chooser dialog box appears to let you select a reference.
      • Green: one reference has been found and you can choose to resize the route with it.
      • Yellow: more than one reference have been found and one reference is selected by default but you can choose anyone from the list. You can also click Select From Filter... to display the available references with their attributes in the Filtered Part Chooser dialog box.
      • Red: no reference has been found. You can choose a reference from database, catalog or library.

    If you select None, the component is not resized.

  8. Click OK.
    The selected raceway component is resized accordingly.

Notes:
  • When modifying the nominal size of a part, a new instance is created with a new reference for each raceway part (part port or hole port).
  • The reference part is retrieved following the process described in Generative Fluid 3D Design User's Guide: Working with Schematic and Specifications Driven Design: About Specifications on Physical Object.
  • Writable attributes are copied to the new reference route only with an Engineering Specification Data Setup.
Tip: You can select a raceway part to start the resizing even if this part has already the right nominal size. This lets you select the component more easily.
