Moving a Part

You can move a part with the Move command.

Recommendation: The Move command is deprecated. To move a part, use the Adjust Layout command. For more information, see Adjusting the Layout.


Before you begin: Open a product containing a part.
  1. From the Fluid Design section of the action bar, select Manipulate Mode as process mode.
  2. From the Selection Options dialog box, select Part Selection .
    For more information about the different selection options, see Selection Options and Process Modes.
  3. On the context toolbar, click Move .
  4. In the Move panel, select the options of your choice.

    Move Mode

    Manipulate: lets you drag the white arrows displayed on the part to move it in global XYZ direction.

    Surrounding Box: lets you select and drag one of the line of the green box displayed on the part in local XYZ direction.

    Snap/Align: lets you snap or align two parts.

    Snapping Mode

    Available if the Snap/Align option as Move Mode is selected.

    Align: the object is oriented in the same direction than the selection type object.

    Snap: the object is moved up to the selection type object.

    For example, if the Selection Type option is Line to Line and the Snapping Mode is Align, the object is oriented in the same direction than the line. If the Selection Type option is Line to Line and the Snapping Mode is Snap, the object is moved on this line.

    Selection Type

    Available if the Snap/Align option as Move Mode is selected.

    Port to Port: snaps or aligns the parts port to port.

    Plane to Plane: snaps or aligns according to the selected planes.

    Line to Line: snaps or aligns according to the selected lines.

  5. Optional: Click Reset to cancel your modification.
  6. Click to validate the position of the part.
  7. Click Update All to update the network according to the new position of the part.
