About Bar Marks

A bar mark is a string based on the prefix of a group and a number. Marking and numbering is done inside groups. To help you find the reference information you need to use the content delivered along with your app, you can consult the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps Content User's Guide.

This page discusses:

Groups

A group is a set of rebar layers.

Group characteristics

A group is a set of rebar layers. They share:

  • A prefix (string)
  • A start number (integer)
  • The increment (value = 1)
  • A color for temporary display

A default rebar group is created automatically and cannot be deleted. All the layers are set in this group. By default, the rebar group attributes are:

  • prefix= A
  • start number = 1
  • increment = 1
  • color = blue

You can modify the prefix, the start number and the color.

By default, the separator between the group and the number identifiers is a dot. If not suitable, you can change it in the resource called ConcreteDesign.xml in Data Setup.

Identical Bars

Inside a group, identical bars share an identical bar mark. Rebar layers are identical if they share identical:

  • Geometry: total length and segment length
  • Bending Radius between each segments
  • Diameter
  • Steel grade: the attribute IFC Pset is available in the Object Type

Identical geometries are defined by rounding options in Data Setup:

  • Dimension Rounding Direction and Total Length
    • UP: rounds the dimension of the bar up
    • DOWN: rounds the dimension of the bar down
    • NEAREST: rounds the dimension of the bar either up or down
  • Dimension Rounding Accuracy
  • Total Length Rounding Accuracy

Numbering

A mark is a string based on a group prefix and a number. The number is calculated as follows: Number = Start Number + Rebar Layer's order x increment.

A group is numbered automatically.

You can choose between:

  • Numbering only modified and new rebar layers
  • Renumbering, but previous numbering is lost

Numbering of a New Layer or a Modified Layer

When you create or modify a layer, a comparison with existing numbers is done.

If there is no existing number, a new number is set according to either:

  • The smallest number available
  • The highest current number plus one

When modifying a layer, you can choose the option Keep number when possible. Before giving a new number, a check is performed to try to keep current number. The option cannot be selected if the mark is shared with an unmodified layer. The option Keep number when possible does not apply to adaptive layers.

Numbering of Identical Rebar Layers

Within a group, if two layers are identical, they share the same number. It is impossible for different layers to share the same number.

The numbering of layers from different groups is independent. Different layers in distinct groups may share the same number. Identical layers in distinct groups may have different numbers.

Rank

The rank provides information concerning the numbering position for a given layer. The rank cannot be changed.

Locking a Layer for Numbering

You can choose to lock or unlock a layer for numbering.Locked numbers are neither modified when renumbering nor if you modify the start number afterwards.

It can lead to the modification of the number of other layers in future numberings.

It can also lead to errors. For example, if two locked layers share the same number, if you modify only one layer and number your model, an error is raised. You then have to unlock one of the two layers.

Locking can only be done when automatic numbering has been performed so all the bar marks are up-to-date.

Locking does not apply to adaptive layers.

Changing the Number on a Layer Manually

You can change the number on a layer manually. A check is performed to forbid the use of an existing number. The changed number is also assigned to the layers sharing same number.

A layer modified manually is locked.

Manually numbering can only be done when automatic numbering has been performed so all the bar marks are up-to-date.

The new number can be accepted even if it is lower than the start number.
