Coupling Impact Graph

You can couple an impact graph with the navigation structure tree to filter the nodes displayed in an impact graph.

Use global settings to couple impact graph

You can couple the impact graph to the structure tree.

Important: If the object is unknown to the Product Finder tab (e.g. Capture), then an object is not filtered in Impact Graph and its link is displayed. An impact graph cannot be coupled to a Manufacturing Finder tab.

  1. Select Me > Preferences from the menu. The Options dialog box appears.
  2. Select Content Access then Impact Analysis to access the General tab.
  3. Select Automatic coupling with VPM navigation tab option in the Graph display section and click OK.

    Every Impact Graph tab launched (from a selection in a navigation tree or an existing coupled impact graph) after the enabling or disabling of this option will display graph according to settings.

Use local settings to couple impact graph

You can use local settings to couple an impact graph.

  1. When the Impact Graph tab is active, click Customization and Filtering Options in the Impact Graph toolbar.
    The Graph display options dialog box appears.
  2. Click on the Filter Tab, and select the On coupled VPM navigation tree option.
  3. Click the button next to the On coupled VPM Navigation tree option to display a panel from which you can choose the window to couple.
    The Coupled tab definition dialog box appears.



  4. Select the tab from the list and click OK.
    The Graph display options dialog box appears.
  5. Click OK.
    Based on the selected options, the impact graph is refreshed in the Impact Graph tab.

    Important: When the Product Finder tab coupled with an impact graph has been deleted or becomes incompatible (e.g. The Product Finder tab is collapsed so that a part of the path of the impact graph root element is not seen in the structure tree), the warning dialog box appears when the Impact Graph tab is active (current window).
    • Click Yes to delete the Impact Graph tab.

    • Click No to un-couple and un-filter the Impact Graph window and not delete it.

    Note: Same result is obtained on activating either of the settings (i.e. Automatic coupling with VPM navigation tab or On coupled VPM navigation tree. The title of an Impact Graph window indicates the coupling status of the impact graph.

    • The icon means that a coupled Product Finder tab is defined for the impact graph, and filters from a compatible Product Finder tab are applied.

    • The icon means that a coupled Product Finder tab is defined for the impact graph.

    • The title of an Impact Graph tab indicates the coupling status of the impact graph.
