Requirements Specification Editor

The Requirements Specification Editor is designed around the idea that adding rich content is the fundamental task of defining requirements. The Requirements Specification Editor allows you to easily author and edit rich content directly in the comments and requirements. It also allows you to manage the traceability links of requirements in requirement specifications.

Requirements Specification Editor Capabilities

The Requirements Specification Editor allows you to:

  • Add the chapters, comments and requirements that comprise a requirement specification.
  • Add and edit the rich content of comments and requirements directly in the requirement specification.
  • Drag and drop chapters, requirements, and comments to reorder the structure of the requirement specification.
  • Define traceability links between requirements.
  • Launch the Traceable Requirements Management app in your web browser.
  • Download the MS Office Requirement Capture Installer to install Requirement Capture on your local computer.

There is a maximum file size of ~5MB for files added as Rich Content Objects (RCOs) in the Requirements Specification Editor. Files larger than this size are not supported.

Opening the Requirements Specification Editor

Double-click in the North Quadrant of the Compass or drag the icon on to the dashboard to open the Requirements Specification Editor.

This launches both the Requirements Specification Editor and the Requirements Structure Editor on the dashboard.

You can filter objects in Requirements Structure Editor and Requirements Specification Editor. Both the widets will be in sync once the filter is applied.

You can now use the spelling checker in Requirements Specification Editor. To use this feature, in Edit Preferences, you must select the Activate Spell Checker check box.
