Running Simulations from 3DSearch Results

You can run selected simulations from a set of 3DSearch results.

You cannot run a simulation process created with Process Composer from a 3DSearch window.

  1. From the top bartop bar, perform a search for the simulations that you want to run.
  2. From the 3DSearch tab, select the simulations to run.
  3. Right-click on the selected simulations, and select Run .

If a simulation is already running, you can select Terminate from the context menu to halt its run.

The Run Simulation Item dialog box appears.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Choose Run Locally to run the simulations in background mode on your workstation.
    • Choose Run Remotely and select the host from the menu to run the simulations in background mode on a remote host.
  5. Click OK.

For fluid simulations, the simulation can restart if it was interrupted the last time it ran and you have not made any subsequent changes to it. Otherwise, the app runs the analysis from the beginning of the simulation.

The background execution of the simulation begins, and you return to the Navigator window. You can use the B.I. Essentials in a 3DSearch window to monitor the status of the simulation.

  6. If you are monitoring the simulation and have enabled notifications, the Simulation Notification dialog box appears when the simulation is complete (see Monitoring a Simulation). If the simulation is still open and you want to view the results, do one of the following:
    • If the Refresh the session to access the updated results from the database check box appears in the Simulation Notification dialog box, select the check box and click Close.

Warning: When you refresh the session, all the simulations from the database that are open in your session are retrieved. If you have not propagated a simulation that you modified, the refresh operation will overwrite the simulation that you modified with the simulation from the database.

    • Close the Simulation Notification dialog box and then close the simulation and any document windows that reference the product being simulated. Reopen the simulation to view the results.

    The following actions are performed:

    • The database is accessed and objects that were modified by the batch execution, such as the results, are retrieved.
    • The various representations of the results are synchronized. For example, a deformed image needs to display a deformed mesh representation.
