Using the Real-Time Managed VRC User Interface

This task describes how to control the motion of one or more Real-Time Managed VRC connected robots using the VRC module's own user interface (UI) instead of the V6 UI using the RRS-II Free Play command.

Depending on the capabilities of the native UI offered by the VRC module, this may allow users to, for example, jog the robot, or load and execute a VRC Program by interacting with the VRC UI and immediately see the results of these interactions on the V6 robot model. When RRS-II is in Free Play mode, joint updates sent by the VRC are taken into account immediately, i.e., no VRC data buffering occurs while this mode is active.

  1. The graphics update rate for Free-Play mode is set through the Me > Preferences > Robotics > RRS tab, with the RRS-II Free Play Simulation Step Size setting.
  2. Select (or multi-select) one or more robots previously RRS-II connected to Real-Time Managed VRC modules.
  3. Click RRS-II Free Play.
  4. Perform appropriate (VRC module-specific) interactions on the VRC UI associated with the RRS-II robot and observe its corresponding behavior in V6.
  5. Click RRS-II Free Play to exit Free Play mode.
