Connecting to an RRS-II Server

This task describes how to connect a robot to an RRS-II server. Repeat this task for each robot in your workcell.


Before you begin: You must first complete the RRS-II client setup step before connecting to a server. Also, the VRC Manager application corresponding to the RRS-II server you plan to connect to must be running. Please refer to VRC Module documentation (provided by the VRC vendor) as to how to setup and run the VRC Manager application, and to find out the RPC program number it uses.
  1. Click RRS Connect in the RRS Connect toolbar.
  2. Select the robot to connect to the RRS-II server.

    The RRS Server Selection dialog box appears for the selected robot. The list may contain both RRS-I and RRS-II servers.

  3. Select the RRS-II server you wish to connect to and click OK.

    The RRS-II Controller Software Version Selection dialog box appears.

  4. Choose a version from the list and click OK.

    The RRS-II Controller Configuration/Language Selection dialog box appears.

  5. Confirm the Controller Configuration, File System and User Language, or make changes as needed. Click OK.

    The Messages Reporting window appears.

    • RRS Shlib Version: The version number of the RRS-II interface shared library.
    • Mechanism(s): The VRC mechanism(s) definition.
    • Controller: The VRC controller name.
    • Version: The VRC controller software version.
    • Controller Config: The VRC controller configuration.
