Creating and Applying a Material

You can create a new core or covering material.

  1. In the Create Material dialog box, indicate the new material name, or leave the default.
  2. Select the material type, either Core, or Covering.
  3. From the list, select a material template, and then click OK.
  4. In the tree or work area, select the object onto which you want to apply the material.
  5. On the material selector, move your mouse over the bar of the level you want to apply the material to, and then click the marker below the bar to apply the material and quit the command.
  6. Expand or collapse the different areas contained in the editor.

    Area Description
    Preview Displays a preview of the material using a predefined shape, a default UV mapping, and a default black ambience.
    Appearance Parameters Contains a series of tabs that group parameters in a logical way.
    Substance Parameters Dedicated to material with Adobe substances.
    Reference Mapping Parameters Contains the mapping parameters for the material reference (that is, the material appearance).
    Material application mapping Contains the mapping parameters for the applied material.

  7. Edit the parameters as required.
    The real-time visualization updates to reflect the changes.
