Point Capacitance

Capacitance elements:

  • allow the introduction of concentrated heat capacitance at a point;

  • are associated with the temperature degree of freedom at a node; and

  • have a capacitance that can be specified as a function of temperature and/or field variables.

Defining the Capacitance Value

The heat capacitance is associated with the temperature degree of freedom at the node of the element. You specify the capacitance magnitude, ρcV (density × specific heat × volume). Specify capacitance, not specific heat. You must associate this capacitance with a region of your model.
