Thermal expansion of constraints

Problem description

A circular plate with a circular hole at the center that is free to expand is modeled. Various types of constraints are used that couple the inside surface of the hole to the reference node at the center of the plate. A uniform increase in temperature is prescribed at all nodes including the reference node of the constraint.

Results and discussion

A uniform expansion of the plate and uniform expansion of the constraint is observed. No stresses are generated in the plate.
