Problem description

This section deals with the surface-based approach to contact between stress/displacement elements.

Most tests are run with and without friction. A coefficient of friction of 0.2 is used in all tests with isotropic friction. In most tests Step 1 results in contact and Step 2 initiates sliding. Several tests conduct direct-integration and subspace-based steady-state dynamic analyses.

Results and discussion

The contact pressure and tractions agree with the analytical results.
