Equations in Sketches and Features

You can add an equation to the sketch or feature dimension.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Ensure you are in the active sketch or active feature.

Equations in Sketches

You can add an equation to the sketch dimension.

  1. In the work area, you can click the dimension of the sketch object or an existing dimension .
    The dimension is now editable.
  2. Type in the input field, to open the Equation dialog box. Enter your formula.
  3. Select the parent feature from the Design Manager tree, to add a feature or sketch parameter to the formula.
  4. In the Equation dialog box, select the parameter from the list. You can select any other feature from the Design Manager tree to add or replace a parameter in the formula.
  5. You can perform the basic operations such as bracket, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on the parameter value.
  6. Click .
    In the work area, appears before the dimension.

Equations in Features

You can add an equation to a dimension of a feature.

  1. In the dialog box, for the Feature, click the input field.
  2. Type in the input field, to open the Equation dialog box. Enter the formula.
    Equations dialog box appears. also appears next to the box.
  3. Select the parent feature from the Design Manager tree, to add a feature or sketch parameter to the formula.
  4. In the Equation dialog box, select the parameter from the list. You can select any other feature from the Design Manager tree to add or replace a parameter in the formula.
  5. You can perform the basic operations such as bracket, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on the parameter value.
  6. Click .
    In the work area, appears after the input value in the input field.
