Splitting Members

You can split a long member into multiple short members.

Before you begin: Open a physical product containing one or more members.
  1. From the Structure section of the action bar, click Split Member .
  2. In the work area, click a member to split.
    The selected member appears in the Member field of the Split Member dialog box.
  3. In the dialog box, from the list, select one of the following.
    OptionDescription
    Dimension Splits a member from either of the end points up to the specified Split length.

    By default, an end point is selected as a starting point for a split. You can swap the default end point with the other from the dialog box or from the work area.
    Instance Splits a member into the specified number of instances in an equal length.
    The preview of the selection appears.

  4. Click Apply and continue to split another member.
  5. Click .
    Dimension Instance
    The Design Manager Tree replaces the original single member with the newly split members under a separate node.
