Sending a Request to Unlock

In a collaborative environment, multiple users can work on the same component. If one user locks a component, the others cannot modify it. The owner has to unlock a component to make it available for others. From within the application, users can send the owner a request to unlock a component or geometry.

  1. From the standard area of the action bar, click Open .

Alternatively, from the landing page of the app, you can click Open.

  2. In the 3DSearch, type a name of a Physical Product or 3D Shape that contains a component you want to access.
A component becomes available for you. If a Physical Product or 3D Shape that contains the component is locked by another user, the Locked Component dialog box is displayed.
  3. In the dialog box, choose an option:
    • Continue: Closes the dialog box and lets you work on the component without saving your changes.
    • Request Lock: Sends a notification to the owner to unlock the Physical Product or 3D Shape.
    • Save As: Creates a copy of the component.
    • Cancel: Closes the dialog box and the component.

Alternatively, from the Design Manager Tree, do the following.

    • Right-click the 3D Shape. From the context toolbar, click
    • Right-click the Physical Product. From the context toolbar, click

  4. Click Request Lock.
The lock owner receives the request as a notification on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. When the owner clicks the notification link, the 3D Shape or Physical Product opens in the Collaborative lifecycle environment. The owner can then release the lock.
