Creating New Revisions and Branches

During the design process, you can create various iterations of your design by creating new revisions and branches of your model.

This task shows you how to:

Create New Revisions

You can create a new revision of your model. You can also create revisions of single or multiple subcomponents at any level for the model.

Before you begin: Open a model in the app.
  1. Select a component for revision.

You can also select multiple components. The selected components must be at the same level of hierarchy.

  2. From the Lifecycle section of the action bar, click New Revision .

If there are unsaved components in your model, the system prompts you to save them.

The current version of your model is saved and the New Revisions dialog box opens.
  3. Type a Title for the new revision in the box.
The new revision is created and a success message appears. The new revision appears in the History panel.

If you have selected one or many subcomponents for revision, the system prompts you to replace the selected components with the new revision.

Note: You have to select a single component to view its revisions in the History panel. You cannot see revisions of multiple components simultaneously in the History panel.

Create New Branch

You can create a new revision of your model on a new branch.

Before you begin: Open a model in the app.
  1. From the Lifecycle section of the action bar, click New Branch .
The current version of your model is saved and the New Branch panel opens.
  2. Type a Prefix in the box, and click OK.
A new revision is created on a new branch and is displayed in the History panel.
