Creating Functions

Creating Harmonic Functions

You can create twice continuously differnetiable function using two variables, and for which the value at each point equals the average of the values along any circle around that point (provided the function is defined within the circle).

This task shows you how to:

Create a Harmonic Function

  1. Select Harmonic as the function type to create.
  2. In the Physical Quantities section of the dialog box, select a type of quantity for each function value.
    1. In the Independent, x field, select a type of quantity for the input value.
    2. In the Dependent, F(x) field, select a type of quantity for the output value.
  3. In the Definition section, enter a value for each element of the function:

    • A: amplitude in Newton-meter.
    • B: offset in Newton-meter.
    • omega: angular frequency in turn per mn.
    • phi: phase in degrees.
    • n: exponent

  4. Click .

Edit a Function

  1. To edit a function, in the tree, do one of the following:
    • Double-click a function.
    • Click a function and select Edit Feature from the context toolbar.
  2. In the dialog box, edit the function parameters.
  3. Click .
