Computing Analysis Cases

You can compute analysis cases to simulate the kinematic and dynamic motions of a mechanism and to generate the simulation results.

Before you begin:
  • Create an analysis case with at least one analysis step, and define it as active.
  • Define the analysis steps as follows:
    • For a kinematics step : create at least one driver with a function on a joint.
    • For a dynamics step : define the mechanism gravity, or create at least one driver with a function on a joint.
  • Optional: Deactivate the motion elements you do not want to compute, such as swept volumes or geometric traces. To do so, right-click the element in the tree and select Deactivate.
  1. The simulation of the analysis case starts. You can track the completion status of each simulation step, and the elapsed time for the simulation.
  2. Optional: To stop the simulation before it ends, click Exit calculation.
  3. Click Show Solver Messages to display the diagnostic output of the motion computation.

The results of the analysis case appear in the tree, under the Result node. The results of each analysis step appear in the tree, under the Analysis Step Results node.

Note: After the computation, the results of each analysis step are retained for every active motion element.
