Reimporting Components

You can make edits to imported parts or components and then reimport that part, component, or a new component after making changes.

Context:

The option to Reimport is available only when the Physical Product was created by importing one of the following file types.

  • SOLIDWORKS Part (*.sldprt)
  • CATIA Part (*.CATPart)
  • Inventor Part (*.ipt)
  • Solid Edge Part (*.par, *.psm)
  • STEP (*.step, *.stp)

After you have made changes to an imported component use the Reimport command to import an updated version of the original component.

  1. In the Design Manager tree, click the parent level of the imported component and select Reimport from the context toolbar.
    The Reimport dialog box opens with the original imported file name and File Format displayed.
  2. From the Source list, select a location of the file to reimport.

    3DDrive You can import the file from a 3DEXPERIENCE location that you have access to on the cloud.
    File on disk You can import the file from a storage device on your local system.
  3. Click Choose File and browse to the file to import.
    The File Name displays the name of the file during an import.

    Under Options, you can specify the import configuration.

  4. Click Import.
