Displaying Functional/Logical Relations in a Diagram View

In a diagram view, a functional/logical route is a schematic representation either of a functional/logical connection (between sibling objects) or of a connections network (between objects from different architecture levels). With the following commands, you can display these relations (i.e. the connection or connections network) in the diagram view.

Warning: These commands are not available for pipes and cables.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: For the purpose of this scenario,
  • Create a logical model with a connection between two objects from different architecture levels.
  • Create symbols with connection points for these objects.
  • Place in view the two connected symbols, but do not create any route in the diagram view.

The purpose of this scenario is to display, from the diagram view, the connection existing in the logical model and to recreate this connection in the diagram.

Display Relations Between Objects

In the diagram view, you can display the functional/logical connections of a selected object.

  1. In the diagram view, select a symbol

    Important: You can select:
    • One object, to display all its relations with all objects in the diagram view.
    • Several objects, to display the relations between the first selected object and every other selected object.

  2. Click Display Relations from the Diagram section of the action bar.
The Display Relations dialog box appears and displays all the relations in the diagram view for this selected object.
  3. To create in the diagram view the route corresponding to a relation, select a row.
  4. Click OK.
The following routes are created between:
    • the parent and its child
    • the child and the other object
Note: If a port representation is defined in the Data Setup Default Schematic Port Representation resource, it is placed in the diagram view.

Display Relation Details on a Route

You can display the details of a route, i.e. all the connections and ports involved in the route.

  1. Select a route in the diagram view.
  2. Click Display Relation Details from the Diagram section of the action bar.
The Display Relation Details window appears and displays the functional connection and logical connection network for this route.

    • Extremity port of the route
    • Intermediate port of the route
    • Connection participating to the route
    • Input port - case when the route is entering inside an intermediate node (port symbol on the right of the vertical line)
    • Input port - case when route is exiting an intermediate node (port symbol on the left of the vertical line).

  3. To highlight an object in the tree, select it in the Display Relation Details window.
