Inserting a New Actor

Functions or logical components are represented by actors in a sequence diagram view. You can insert an actor in a selected sequence diagram view.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a sequence diagram view and activate it. For more information, see Creating Sequence Diagrams.
Tip: From the tree, double-click a sequence diagram view to activate it.

Insert a New Actor by a Command

You can insert an actor to be displayed in a selected sequence diagram view.

  1. From the Sequence Diagram section of the action bar, click Insert New Actor.
  2. From the tree, select a function or a logical component.

    Note: To place several actors at the same time, multiselect the logical or function references and select Place in View from the context menu.

  3. To position the actor in view, click the active sequence diagram view.

The actor element is displayed in the active sequence diagram view.

Insert a New Actor by Performing Drag and Drop

You can insert an actor to be displayed in a selected sequence diagram view by performing drag and drop.

  1. From the tree, drag a function or a logical component.
  2. Drop it to the active sequence diagram view.

The selected function or logical component is displayed as an actor element in the active sequence diagram view.
