Duplicating Views

You can duplicate the content of the following views in a new one:

  • Diagram views
  • Sequence diagram views
  • State machine diagrams
  • Use case diagrams


Before you begin:
  • In a system, create a model and place it in a diagram view.
  • Create another system.
  1. From the Diagram section of the action bar, click Duplicate View .
  2. In the View to be Duplicated area of the Selection Panel dialog box, click the Browse button and select one of the following elements:
    Selected ElementRetrieved Elements
    Function or logical component All the layout, sheets, and diagrams attached to the component.
    Layout All the sheets and diagrams attached to layout.
    Sheet All the diagrams attached to the sheet.
    View -

    Notes:
    • Multiselection is possible for layouts, sheets, and views.
    • if multiple layouts, sheets and diagrams from the same function or logical component are selected, all the selected diagrams and the ones under the layouts and sheets are retrieved.

  3. In the Target for Duplication area, click the Browse button and select one of the following elements:
    • A function or logical component: The duplicated view will be attached to this component. A sheet is automatically created to store the duplicated view.
    • A layout: A sheet is automatically created to store the duplicated view.
    • A sheet: The duplicated view is instantiated under this sheet.

    Note: If all source views are below the same layout or sheet, the component under which the sheet or layout is attached is taken as component target.

  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Duplication dialog box, for each object, select one of the following options in the Action area:
    • Duplicate:

      The component is duplicated. You can change the parent of the duplicate component:

      1. Click the Browse button next to Parent and select another parent.
      2. In the Duplication String box, enter a new name for the duplicate.
      Note: By default, the parent is the owner of the target diagram.
    • Existing:

      The field can be initialized if a component with the same V_name or the same PLM_ExternalID is found under the parent of the duplicate diagram. If not, do the following actions:

      1. Click the Browse button next to Target.
      2. In the tree, select another component.
    • Remove:

      The component is removed from the duplicate diagram view.

    • Reuse:

      The initial object is kept.

      Note: This option is selected by default if the new diagram is to be attached under the same function or logical component than the source diagram.

    Note: If several diagram views are selected in Step 2, the option for each object is applicable to all diagram views in which the object is presented.

  6. Click OK.
    The Sheet dialog box appears.
  7. In the Sheet dialog box, enter a name for the sheet.
  8. In the View dialog box, enter a name for the duplicate diagram view.
