About Subcontext Links Display in Traceability Matrix

Between two references, links can be defined in the context or subcontext of the selected references. The occurrence-occurrence links created in subcontext are visible in Traceability Matrix.

This page discusses:

Subcontext Definition

A subcontext is an instantiation under a parent system of a functional and a logical reference linked by a reference-reference link.

In the following example, a reference-reference link is has been created between F2 and L2. An occurrence-occurrence link is created between F3.1 and L3.1 in the context of F2-L2. The sub system F2-L2 is instantiated under F0 and L0 and an occurrence-occurrence link is created between F2.1 & L2.1 in the context of F0-L0.

: reference-reference link

: occurrence-occurrence link

Traceability Matrix in the context of F0-L0 displays the occurrence-occurrence link between F3.1 and L3.1.

Conditions

For Traceability Matrix to retrieve the occurrence-occurrence links created in a sub context, the instances of the subcontext components have to be linked by an occurrence-occurrence link in the higher context and recursively to the main context. If this chain is broken, the occurrence-occurrence links are not displayed in Traceability Matrix.
