Grouping or Ungrouping Interfaces

For graphical purposes, in order to simplify a 2D diagram, you can group or ungroup the 2D representation of interfaces.

Note that these commands provide only graphical grouping and do not structure interfaces. See Decomposing Flows and Types to structure the data associated to functional or logical interfaces.

Important: This functionality can be applied on interfaces, flow associations and logical ports.

Group Selected Interfaces

You can group a selection of interfaces on an instance or a reference.

  1. In a function or a logical component:
    1. Select the interfaces you want to group.


    2. Right-click to display the context menu then select 2D Graph > Group Selected Ports.
      The interfaces group is created.

  2. To add another interface to this group:
    1. Select the interface and the group.


    2. From the context menu, select 2D Graph > Group Selected Ports.
      The interface is added to the interfaces group.

  3. To group connections:
    1. Select the interfaces at the second end of the connections.


    2. From the context menu, select 2D Graph > Group Selected Ports.
      The connections are grouped.

Group Unconnected Interfaces

You can create one group with all the unconnected interfaces of a reference or an instance.

  1. Select a function or logical component with connected and unconnected interfaces.

  2. Right-click to display the context menu then select 2D Graph > Group Unconnected Ports.
    The interfaces group is created and contains unconnected interfaces only.

    Notes:
    • When connecting an interface that is part of an unconnected interfaces group, this interface leaves the group and is displayed on the instance at its last position.
    • When adding a new interface with no connection, this interface is not automatically added to the unconnected interfaces group. You can add it using the Group Unconnected Ports command.

Work with Interfaces Group

These commands can be used on both interfaces group and unconnected interfaces group.

  1. To display the name of all interfaces, fly over an interfaces group.


  2. To move an interfaces group, select the group then move it using the handlers.
  3. To expand or collapse an interfaces group, choose one of the following methods:
    • From the 2D graph, select + and -.
    • From the context menu, select 2D Graph > Expand group (or Collapse group).
  4. To ungroup interfaces:
    1. Select a group.
    2. From the context menu, select 2D Graph > Ungroup ports.
    The interfaces are displayed on the instance at their last position. If the interfaces are connected, the connections are also displayed at their last position.
  5. To delete an interfaces group:
    1. Select a group.
    2. From the context menu, select Delete.
      The interfaces group and the interfaces are deleted.
