Reordering the Tree

In the tree, you can reorder the children of a selected function/logical component.

Tip: To reorder the tree, open Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling , and then clear the Display the tree alphabetically option inSystems Architecture > General. For more information, see General.


Before you begin: Select an object with two or more children of the same type.
Note: You can apply this command on functional, logical, or physical objects (including flows, types, ports, and interfaces).

You cannot apply this command on connections, requirements.

  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Tree Reordering .
    The Tree Reordering dialog box appears and displays the children of the selected object in the same order as in the tree.
  2. Select a mode for your reordering:

    Manual reordering
    1. Select the object to be moved.
    2. To move the object on the above or below level, click Up or Down .
    3. To move the object on another position in the structure, click Selection , and then click the convenient position.

    By default, the Manual reordering mode is selected.

    Automatic reordering by criterion
    1. Select a criterion in the list.
    2. Define if it is an Ascending or a Descending order by selecting the convenient option.
      Important: The natural order is applied on alphanumeric values: X1, X2, Z3, Z10...
    3. To recursively apply the reordering criterion to all the selected object's children of the tab category, select the Apply recursively to all children option.
      Note: By default, this option is cleared. Once selected, your choice is persistent.
  3. Select a persistency for your reordering:
    OptionDescription
    In session To memorize this tree structure for this session only.

    This option is available for read-only and editable objects.

    Persistent To memorize this tree structure for the next session.

    This option is not available if the children are read-only.

  4. To restore the former tree structure, click Reset Tree Order.

    Important: This command is no more available if you apply a new tree structure with the Persistent mode.
