Closing a Defect Action

The Quality Assignee, after testing and verifying the defect action work is complete, needs to close it. When all defect actions for a defect are either closed or rejected, then the defect is automatically closed or rejected if all defect actions are rejected.

Note: If an implementation review was defined for the defect action, that review must be completed or you cannot close the defect action. See Editing an Implementation Review.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Leader or Author


Before you begin: View the Properties page for the defect action. See Defect Action Properties.
  1. From the toolbar, click To Closed .
    The Defect Action panel opens.
  2. Enter detailed notes explaining what was done to verify the fix and the results of testing.
  3. If necessary, click to search for and select the person who made the fix for this defect action. You can only select a person who has the Defect Engineer role.
  4. If necessary, click to search for and select the person who verified the fix for this defect action after it was completed. You can only select a person who has the Defect Engineer role.
  5. Click Done.

The defect action is promoted to "Closed", and if all other defect actions for the defect are either closed or rejected, then the defect is promoted to "Closed" as well. The notes entered on this page are appended to the Notes field for the defect action.
