The Abaqus Connectors

Process Composer provides Abaqus® connectors that allow you to create a finite element model, analyze the model, and postprocess the results.

The following Abaqus connectors are created for you with a standard installation of Process Composer. The Application Version property of the Abaqus connectors refers to a particular release of Abaqus. You should modify this property to refer to the release of Abaqus that is being used at your site.

Abaqus/CAE

The Abaqus/CAE connector runs a specific version of Abaqus/CAE, the interactive preprocessor used to create finite element models, submit Abaqus analyses, and evaluate results. The command options are described in "Execution procedure for Abaqus/CAE," Section 3.2.3 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual.

Abaqus/Explicit

The Abaqus/Explicit connector runs a specific version of Abaqus/Explicit, the explicit dynamics finite element program. The command options are described in "Execution procedure for Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit," Section 3.2.2 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual.

In most cases you will run Abaqus/Explicit with the job=inputFileName option to submit an Abaqus input file and generate an output database.

Abaqus/Standard

The Abaqus/Standard connector runs a specific version of Abaqus/Standard, a general-purpose finite element program. The command options are described in "Execution procedure for Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit," Section 3.2.2 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual.

In most cases you will run Abaqus/Standard with the job=inputFileName option to run an Abaqus input file and generate an output database.

Abaqus/Viewer

The Abaqus/Viewer connector runs a specific version of Abaqus/Viewer. Abaqus/Viewer is a subset of Abaqus/CAE that contains only the Visualization module. The command options are described in "Execution procedure for Abaqus/Viewer," Section 3.2.4 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual. The Visualization module of Abaqus/CAE has all of the functionality of Abaqus/Viewer.
