Creating Chamfers on Split Plates

Chamfering Split Plate Edges

When adjacent split plates have different thicknesses or orientations, there are sharp steps between them which may become a source of stress concentration. Chamfer lets you chamfer the edges of thicker plates to avoid such sharp steps.

Before you begin:
  • Open a product containing a seamed panel.
  • Import the chamfer contour.
  • Insert the chamfering action rule in Rules Catalog or Rules Library, or in any other catalog/library.
  1. Click Show Preferences at the upper right of the Chamfer panel.
  2. In the Preferences panel, specify the chamfering action rule and the chamfer contour.
  3. In the Chamfer panel, select target structure panels in the Selected Objects box.
A list of pairs of split plates is generated in the Chamfer panel. One pair is for each edge that requires chamfering.
