There are a few things you need to know about synchronizing physical objects with the corresponding functional design objects.

Best Practices for Synchronization and for Generation of a Light SDD Model Through Synchronization
Thickness Compensation Special Case 01: When synchronizing a panel that has sketch as one of its limits, how to compensate thickness of the limiting panel without modifying the length of the limited panel in that direction.
Thickness Compensation Special Case 02: Compensating the gap between the Stiffener on Free Edge and the sketch, caused due to synchronization.
Functional Design Objects After Synchronization
Panel
  • Creates a corresponding product. By default, the naming convention of the product is [PanelSFDFeatureName]-[DesingUnitName]. You can customize the naming convention by setting the Synchronization Naming Action Rule in Data Setup. For more information about the action rule, see Synchronization Naming Action Rule.
  • Creates a panel under the corresponding product.
Important: If there are synchronized Structure Design plates in the model, to migrate them to Structure Design panels, you have to delete the synchronized Structure Design plates from the session as well as the database, and re-synchronize.
Split Plates Creates split plates under the panel.
  • The name, material, and thickness of the split plate are copied from each Structure Functional Design split plate.
  • When the seam object in Structure Functional Design is changed and the number of split plates is same, the status of all the Structure Design split plates become Different. These plates are updated during re-synchronization. If the number of Structure Functional Design split plates decreases, current Structure Design split plates are deleted and new split plates are created during re-synchronization
Stiffeners and Stiffeners on free edges Creates stiffener or stiffener on free edge on Structure Design panel.
Important: The Structure Design stiffener on free edge is created with the Neutral Fibre position mode. You have to adjust the section positioning mode after synchronization, as required.
Parametric panel Creates a parametric plate. All the reference elements and planes are imported.
  • The sketch used by the standalone plate is copied and isolated in Structure Design. The corresponding limits are rerouted.
  • To position the parametric plate:
    • 3D Axis mode: The Structure Functional Design 3D axis is copied and isolated in Structure Design.
    • Plate/Stiffener mode: The corresponding plate and stiffeners are searched.
    • Stiffener/Stiffener mode: Two corresponding stiffeners are searched.
    • Multi Limits mode : All the corresponding limits are searched.
Standalone plate Creates a parametric plate.
Standard openings created withHalf Height/Offset and Half Height/Mid Dist modes Creates standard openings with 3D Axis mode when the panel is in ACROSS volume.
Opening on profile Creates an opening on profile. While creating the opening using:
  • 3D object method: The 3D object is duplicated and isolated.
  • Sketch method: The sketch or 3D output profile is duplicated or isolated.
  • Standard method: The openings are created using Spacing/Offset and Offset/Offset modes.
Flange Creates a flange on the Structure Design split plate.
  • If the flange is created on the plate limit in Structure Functional Design, then the limits are rerouted and the flange is created in Structure Design.
  • If the flange is created on an extract or an output profile, then the corresponding profile is retrieved in Structure Design and the flange is created.
Slots with collars Creates slots with collars. The collars are always aggregated below the slots.
Endcut Creates an endcut on the Structure Design profile.
Beam Creates a member.
  • The Point and Length type: The point and the length are copied.
  • The Point and Limit type: The point and limit are copied.
  • The Point to Point type: The points are copied.
  • The Curve type: The curve support and surface to guide are imported.
  • The Beams and Plane type: The curves of beams and plane are imported.
  • The Reference Planes type: Reference planes are imported
Pass through point for openings The pass through points and line are synchronized.
Colors of functional objects The colors are applied to the physical objects as per the category defined in the color action rule that is set in the Data Setup.
Important:
  • If the color action rule is not set in the Data Setup, the colors are not applied.
  • If the category of the synchronized object is unavailable in the action rule, the color is not applied.
