Importing V5 Structure Design Documents

You can import the plates and shapes created in V5 Structure Design (SR1) into V6 SDD plates and beams respectively and can do further modifications on the resulting V6 documents.

Before you begin: Locally store the V5 documents.

Import V5 Structure Design Plates

You can import the V5 Structure Design plates and modify them in V6.

  1. Select Add > Import > CATIA File.
    The Select File dialog box appears.
  2. Select the product you want to import in V6 and click Open.
    The Select the files to Import dialog box appears and list the corresponding files to be imported.
  3. Set the options and import the V5 document.

    The V5 Structure Design plates are imported as plates. You can modify the imported plates.

    The image below shows how the V5 plates are imported and mapped in V6.

Important:
  • You can create stiffener on free edge on the imported plate by extracting the edges of the support.
  • Limits can be applied on plates, but the limit should intersect with the support surface of plate.

Import V5 Structure Design Shapes

You can import the V5 Structure Design shapes and modify them in V6.

  1. Select Add > Import > CATIA File.
    The Select File dialog box appears.
  2. Select the product you want to import in V6 and click Open.
    The Select the files to Import dialog box appears and list the corresponding files to be imported.
  3. Set the options and import the V5 document.

    The V5 Structure Design shapes are imported as beams. You can modify the imported shapes.

    The image below shows how the V5 shapes are imported and mapped in V6.

Important:
  • Only standard anchor points are mapped.
  • Materials should be imported before SR1 shape migration.
