Breaking Structure Fasteners

You can break a structure fastener using a splitting element.


Before you begin: Generate structure fasteners and save them.

  1. Do any of the following:
    • In the Structure Fastener panel, select the required fastener rows and click Break Structure Fastener .
    • Click Break Structure Fastener from the Operation section of the action bar and select the required fasteners from the 3D area or the tree.
    The selected fasteners appear in the Unified Bead Fastener box.
  2. In the Object box, select a splitting element.

    • You can select only one splitting element. You can select a plane, surface, or curve.
    • The splitting element must intersect with the fastener curve.
    • You can create a splitting element on the fly using the various commands from the toolbox. The toolbox appears when you click the Object box. Before creating an element, you need to specify a destination for it, using the Destination command from the toolbox.

  3. Optional: Click Chain Mode to turn on the chain mode.

    This mode lets you perform the splitting operation continuously. The resultant fasteners of the first break operation are automatically set as an input for the next. The generated fasteners are saved automatically after each break operation.

  4. Click Break .
    The fasteners are broken using the selected splitting element. Each fastener is broken into two fasteners. If the fastener curve is intersected at multiple locations by the splitting object, the fastener is broken into two fasteners of multi-domain curves.
