-
From the
Operation section of the
action bar,
click
Break Profile
.
The
Break Profile dialog box appears.
-
In the
Profile box, select a profile (a stiffener, a
stiffener on free edge, or a
member).
You can also select multiple profiles.
-
In the
Splitting Object box, select a splitting
object.
The splitting object can be a plane, a curve, a surface, a
stiffener, or a plate. The splitting object must intersect the profile.
-
Click
OK.
To break the profile, the objects
must be saved. If they are not saved, a warning message is displayed.
-
Click
Yes.
The objects are saved and the selected profile is broken
into multiple profiles. These profiles can be identified as individual profiles
in the
tree
and the
3D area.
Notes:
- The number of profiles after the break operation depends on the
number of splitting objects. For example, if you select only one cutting
object, the profile will be broken in two profiles, though the cutting object
is intersecting the profile at multiple locations. The intersection closest to
the start extremity is taken into account.
- If a profile is a limiting element, after breaking it, the limits
for the impacted limited elements are updated. An appropriate limited element
is selected from the split profiles, the inputs are automatically rerouted and
the limiting element list is updated.
- If the limiting profile exists in another product, after breaking
it, you need to manually reroute the limits for the impacted element.
- The limit type for new extremities is the default limit type set
in the preferences.
- All the detailing features such as openings, endcuts, slots, etc.
are rerouted correctly and are present at the original location only.
- If a standard opening on the profile is intersected, it is
managed as follows:
Intersection is offset
from the center of the opening

The profile that has
opening's center will have the opening.
