Drafting Template Design app uses templates to let you customize the various features of the product, and let you insert your rules and standards directly in the product.

The app also provides ready-to-use templates, which you can customize according to your needs.

The following templates are available:

  • Text template
  • Annotation template:
    • Elevation annotation
    • Fluidic annotation
    • Slope annotation
    • Parametric annotation
    • Multi-Object annotation
    • Grid
    • Text
    • Coordinate annotation
    • Compass annotation
    • View title annotation
  • Sheet template
  • View template
  • Dress-up template:
    • Title-block template
    • Frame template
    • View Title template
  • View update rule template
  • Table template

A template is designed by an administrator and stored in the catalog for future usage by the users.

For example, if you need a specific elevation annotation, you can design an elevation annotation template, create the parameters you want to expose to the users, and store this template in the catalog. The elevation annotation template is then managed by the elevation annotation command.

Templates can be modified at any time by the administrator. In this case, an annotation designed with a template, which has been modified, reflects the modifications of the new template after it is updated.

For example, if you want to change a grid annotation you are using in all your drawings, you have to modify the template. If you need to have a new grid, while keeping the existing grid, you must create a new template and put it in the catalog so the users can select it.

Important: You must have installed the Templates and Rules Designer (TER) role to create templates.

Templates are stored in standard catalogs and are retrieved from those catalogs. For more information, see Social and Collaborative apps: IP Reuse Optimization: Design IP Classification.

The link between the template and the instantiated annotation is maintained, so the annotation always reflects the template. Thus, changes to the annotation templates always update the already instantiated annotations.
