About Advanced Annotation Templates

The patterns in the annotation templates can be managed by using the Knowledgeware parameter list. The resulting annotation is the combination of all template contents corresponding to each item of the list.

The following parameters have to be created under the Parameters node:

If Number of <Item> is set as visible, it is possible to manually modify the number of items in annotation created from this template.

For example, this mechanism is used for a multi-line text annotation:

An annotation template can contain sub-annotation template used to provide particular behavior such as moving and flipping a set of elements.

The sub-annotation template has to be created using the Sub-Annotation Template command, available in the Smart Annotation Templates section of the action bar.

It creates a new 2D component instance of another annotation template in the current template. This 2D component instance supports the following:

• A reference to a text annotation or to another sub-annotation template.
• Input concerning move and flip behavior along X and Y with regards to template origin or reference.

Along X and Y directions, sub-annotation template manages:

• Distance to template origin or reference. Distance is a knowledge parameter in which the following can be defined:
  • Multiple values: Sub-annotation distance can be set to one of these values (not supported yet in annotation created from such template).
  • Range: Sub-annotation distance can be one within this range which means that sub-annotation can move within corresponding interval.
• Positioning mode:
  • Origin: Sub-annotation origin is set at distance to reference or template origin.
  • Center: Sub-annotation center is set at distance to reference or template origin.
  • Internal contour: Sub-annotation contour is set to distance of reference contour or template origin considering internal orientation.
  • External contour: Sub-annotation contour is set to distance of reference contour or template origin considering external orientation.
• Flip mode:
  • Position: Sub-annotation flips in position.
  • Content: Sub-annotation content flips when flipped in position.

Sub-annotation template can be dynamically tested to check the behavior of the annotation created from this template.

Important: The sub-annotation has to be edited at least once to activate the dynamic behavior.

A template instantiated as sub-annotation template can use the following specific parameters that are computed and set by the sub-annotation template to the related template:

A template instantiated as sub-annotation template can be a part of annotation template configuration.

In the tree, its parameters are available under its node. Thus it can be used in the rule managing configurations. For more information about Configurations, see Configuring Annotation Templates.

For each X and Y coordinate, the parameters are as follows:

• <X|Y> = Distance along X or Y
• <X|Y>Mode = Positioning mode along X or Y (0=Origin, 1=Center, 2=Internal contour, 3=External contour)
• <X|Y>FlipPosition = Position flip along X or Y
• <X|Y>FlipContent = Content flip along X or Y

For example, two configurations of the annotation can be defined having two different position modes for its sub-annotation.

To do so, the configuration rule sets XMode and YMode parameters for both Configurations 1 and 2.
