About Annotations

Multi-Discipline Drafting is designed to let you create texts in complex views and manage them efficiently.

This page discusses:

General

When the annotation placement is failed, or an annotation is missing, the annotations are highlighted with a different color. To specify the color, under Allow Diagnostics for Smart Annotations , click Configure from Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Multi Discipline Engineering > Multi-Discipline Drafting > General.

For example, in case of multi-object annotation, if the corresponding 3D feature is missing, the multi-object annotation is highlighted with a different color.

The failure mode persists on the annotation until the placement strategy is corrected.

About Layers

The layer property is synchronized with the layer value of the annotation template.

This functionality is applicable to the following annotations:

  • Elevation
  • Spot Elevation
  • Fluidic Elevation
  • Slope
  • Coordinate
  • Compass
  • Parametric
  • Multi-Object
  • Grid
  • Text

Notes:
  • The layer property of an annotation, which is based on the layer of individual texts or geometrical elements of the annotation template, are not synchronized.
  • The value of the layer property can be overridden. If you synchronize the annotation with its template, the overridden value is replaced with the value in the annotation template..
  • If the layer value in the annotation template is modified, the annotation instance must be synchronized with its template to get the new value.

About Texts

You can create associative texts. The text can be associative with the following:

  • The 3D object and its projections (generated items) in the view.
  • The text template.
  • Objects that let the text compute its value.
  • Rules that let the text compute its value.

You can specify the catalog chapters where texts are stored in Multi-Discipline Drafting resources.
