The Parameters You Can Extract from a Model Database File

The Abaqus adapter extracts parameters from the model database (.cae) file and generates an input file that is submitted to Abaqus for analysis.

The Abaqus adapter can read the following input parameters from a model database (.cae) file.

  • Part features

    • Numerical features, such as diameter and extrusion depth

  • Geometry features

    • Sketcher dimensions

    • Extrusion depth

    • Extrusion direction

  • Material properties

    • Material table data

  • Section properties

    • Numerical values, such as shell thickness

  • Interaction properties

    • Friction coefficient

  • Loads

    • Magnitudes

    • Concentrated force components

    • Body force or gravity components

    • Connector force components

    • Connector moment components

  • Boundary conditions

  • Beam profiles

In addition, the job name is read from the model database file and is used to construct the Abaqus command on the Execution tab. The adapter generates an input file that is submitted to Abaqus for analysis; therefore, the model database file must define a job that the adapter can use to form the basis of the input file.
