Creating a Hierarchical Subflow

You can insert an adapter over some or all of a simulation process to create a subflow.

This task shows you how to:

Insert an Adapter Over Selected Activities

You can insert over a series of activities or gateways as a subflow of a new activity.

  1. Open a simulation process.
  2. Select one or more consecutive activities or gateways.

Tip: Use Ctrl + click to select multiple objects in the process diagram.

  3. With the objects selected, select an adapter from the Flow section of the action bar.
  4. Place the adapter in the Insert over selected box that appears in the process diagram.
The adapter is placed in a new activity with the selected activities and gateways as its subflow. Parameter mappings are reconfigured with respect to the new parent activity.

If the selected activities are not consecutive, a subflow is created starting with the first selected activity in the process flow and ending with the last.

Insert an Adapter Over A Process

You can insert over a process to make all activities and gateways in a process a subflow of a new activity.

  1. Open a simulation process.
  2. Select an adapter from the Flow section of the action bar.
  3. Place the adapter in the Drop here to insert over all box that appears in the process diagram.
The new activity is placed with all activities and gateways in the process as its subflow. Parameter mappings are reconfigured with respect to the new parent activity.
