Exporting and Importing Simulation Templates

You can export and import a simulation template using a 3D XML file format. Exporting and importing using a 3D XML file allows you to move a simulation template created by across 3DEXPERIENCE platforms; for example, between a company and a contractor.

For more information, see Exchange Management User's Guide: Export to 3D XML and Exchange Management User's Guide: Import 3D XML.

This task shows you how to:

Export a Simulation Template

You can export a simulation template created by Optimization Process Composer (web) to a 3D XML file.

  1. From the top bar, search for a simulation template.
  2. From the list that appears, select the simulation template to export.
  3. From the top bar, select Share > Export to export the selected simulation template to a 3D XML file.
  4. From the Export dialog box that appears, enter the File Name and the Location of the 3D XML file to create.
  5. Click OK.
Optimization Process Composer creates the 3D XML file and displays an Operation report dialog box listing the objects that were exported.
  6. Review the objects that were exported, and click OK to close the dialog box.

Import a Simulation Template

You can create a new simulation template by importing a 3D XML file.

Before you begin: You can import a simulation template only to the same release of Optimization Process Composer from which it was exported.
  1. From the top bar, click Add > Import > 3D XML.
  2. From the Import 3DXML dialog box that appears, select the Path and the Name of the file to import.
  3. From the Import Options, select Import as New to create a simulation template that is a local copy of the original.

You become the owner of the new simulation template, and new internal identifiers, business rules, and lifecycles are applied to the new template. There is no connection between the new simulation template and the 3D XML file; changes to the 3D XML file will not be propagated to the new template.

Warning: The Import as Reference option is not supported.

  4. Enter a Duplication String that Optimization Process Composer uses to name the new simulation template. (Optimization Process Composer prepends the original name of the template with the text string that you enter.)
  5. Click OK.
The imported simulation template appears in Simulation Finder in an Explore window; however, you must use Process Experience Studio to open the experience.
