Configuring the Post-Update Options

You can modify selected parameters in the simulation activity before executing the XFlow simulation (but after processing the pre-execution 3DEXPERIENCE parameters) by mapping 3DEXPERIENCE parameters or publications to the activity parameters. For example, you can map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter that holds the calculated volume of a geometric component to a parameter in the simulation activity that you have also mapped to a XFlow input parameter for volume.

  1. From the Applications section of the action bar, click XFlow and drop it on the process diagram.
  2. Double-click XFlow .
  3. From the XFlow Editor that appears, select the Post-Update tab.
  4. From the tree that Optimization Process Composer displays in the XFlow Editor, select the object containing the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters.
  5. Use the Filters to reduce the number of items that appear in the table. For example, you can choose to display only 3DEXPERIENCE parameters or only the parameters that contain a particular text string in their name.

You can also select a node in the tree to view the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters associated with that node. Use the Find field above the tree to quickly locate the item in the tree. Drag the bar to the right of the tree to expand or collapse it as required.

Note: To start a search using the Find box, click or . Do not press Enter because this will close the adapter window.

  6. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to an activity parameter with the same name, do the following:
    1. Click in the Select column for each parameter that you want to add.
Optimization Process Composer creates the parameter with the same name and the same mode and type.

Note: The mapping process maintains the value of Knowledgeware and PLM parameters in the user's display units. For example, a Knowledgeware parameter representing a length of 200mm, but with display units of meters, will be treated as a value of 0.2 by the activity parameter in the simulation process. Optimization Process Composer does not support unit conversion. To reflect the change in display units in the activity parameter's value, you must recreate the mapping by clearing it, closing and reopening the XFlow Editor, and selecting the mapping again.

  7. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to an existing activity parameter, do the following:
    1. Select the Activity Parameter column.
    2. From the list, select the existing activity parameter to which you want to map.
    3. Click OK.
  8. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to a new activity parameter, do the following:
    1. Select the Activity Parameter column.
    2. Select Create new.
      The Create New panel appears.
    3. Enter the parameter name and value, and click OK.
Optimization Process Composer creates the activity parameter and maps the 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to the activity parameter.
  9. Optional: Click Select all or Deselect all to add or clear parameters.
  10. Click Show selected to view the selected parameters.
  11. Click Validate to confirm that the selected parameters exist and have valid units.
If a parameter is valid, Optimization Process Composer reads its value from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and displays the value.
  12. Click Ok to save your changes and to close the XFlow Editor.
