Defining Interference Probes

You can use interference probes to detect clashes between two products.

Before you begin:

Open a scenario referencing an object containing both a logical and physical model in the Behavior Experience app.

  1. From the Scenario section of the action bar, click Interference Probe .
    The Interference Specifications dialog box appears.
    Important: By default, the Clash check box is selected and cannot be cleared.
  2. In the Specifications tab, to detect when two parts move at a specified clearance distance from each other:
    1. Select the Clearance check box.
    2. Enter a clearance value.
  3. To select relevant checks to perform during the interference computation of each time step of the kinematics scenario, select the Engineering connection check box.
  4. In the Compute quantifier section, select one or more of the following options to calculate and store quantities for each stage of the scenario computation:
    • Penetration Volume
    • Penetration Vector
    • Minimum Distance
      Note: This option is only available if you select the Clearance check box.
  5. In the Context tab, choose the group computation mode:
    OptionDescription
    Inside groups Option by default. Computes the interference simulation between the parts or products belonging to one group.
    Groups against groups Computes the interference simulation between the parts or products belonging to different groups.
    Groups against context Computes the interference simulation between the selected object (parts or products) and the remaining objects (parts and products) in the assembly context.
  6. Click Add new group to open the Group Definition dialog box, and select one or more objects in the tree.

    If you select Groups against groups, select a second group of product occurrences.

  7. To edit a group, click and select the objects to add or remove from the group.
  8. In the Feedback tab, customize the 3D display for each interference probe:
    1. In the Highlight mode list, select the intersecting parts to highlight:

      Option Description
      No Highlight Highlights no products
      Clash only Highlights products in case of a clash
      Clash or contact Highlights products in case of a clash or contact
      Clash, contact or clearance Highlights products if the minimal distance between them is not respected.
      Note: If you select the Clearance option, the parts within the specified clearance distance are also highlighted.

    2. In the Geometry mode section, select how to display interferences in the model geometry during the simulation:

      Option Description
      Display clash volume Displays the interference penetration volume
      Display clash curve Displays the interference intersection curve
      Important: This option is only available if a clash is detected. For more information, see Clash Analysis.

      A red color-coded interference curve appears during the preview and is calculated during the computation of the scenario.
    3. Select the Display interferences list option to access the immersive interference analysis tool .

      A list of information is automatically displayed including the probe names, detailed specifications, issue types, intersecting products, and clearances values. This list is a subset of the interference analysis tools available in the Interference Management app. For more information, see Interference Management User's Guide .

    4. Select the Apply colors option to apply colors on parts according to their interference status during the simulation.
  9. Click OK.
