Generating File from Results

You can export results data from a simulation to a text file or to a Microsoft Excel file.

The file is saved in a document in the Result category and is stored in the database along with the simulation.

Before you begin:

You must request output from your simulation, and you must run the simulation and generate results.

  1. From the Scenario section of the action bar, click Generate File from Results .
  2. From the Export computed results dialog box that appears, select a scenario to export and click OK.
  3. From the Launch Export dialog box that appears, enter the name of the file to create.
  4. Choose the format of the file (Excel *.xls or Text *.txt) and click OK.
    A document containing the new file is created in the Result category, under a Documents folder. Additional results files are saved in the same document. The first column of the file contains time data. Additional columns contain data for the variables you selected for plotting and probing.

The document is a Engineering Document. For example, you must show attached documents to view the results file in a Navigator window. You can then check out the file to edit it locally, and you can check in the modified file to return it to the database.
