Creating Openings on Panel

Opening on Panel lets you create openings on panel for various purposes such as manholes, lightening holes, drain holes, air holes, etc.

  1. From the Category list, select the category for opening.
  2. In the Applied to box, select a panel on which you want to create the opening.
  3. Select the Interrupt check box to create an interruption in stiffeners attached to the plate.
  4. From the Method list, select one of the following methods and specify the necessary inputs:

    Method Inputs
    Standard Click to define the opening:
    • Select type, contour, and positioning method.
    • Under the References area, select reference planes or panels.
    • In the Position tab, specify an angle value to position the contour at the angle from the selected references.
    • Select the Preview check box, to preview the opening in the 3D area.
    Sketch Click to sketch the opening contour.
    3D Objects In the Cutting element box, select a 3D object such as a closed surface, a solid, or a volume.

  5. Optional: For standard and sketched openings, select the required forming mode from the Forming list.
