Creating a Standard Opening

You can create an opening on a profile using standard contours.

  1. From the Category list, select the category for opening.
  2. In the Applied to box, select a profile on which you want to create the opening.
  3. From the Method list, select Standard.
  4. From the Direction options, select Trans. or Vert..
  5. Select a forming mode from the Forming list.
  6. Click to define the opening:
  7. In the Standard Opening on Profile dialog box, specify the type, the contour, and the positioning method for the opening.
  8. In the Position tab, specify the following parameters:

    Positioning mode Longitudinal Parameters
    Spacing/Offset: The opening is positioned along the trace from a reference point at the defined spacing and offset values.
    • Reference Point: Select the start or the end extremity from where the opening will be computed.
    • Offset: Enter a value by which the opening will be offset from the reference point.
    • Instances and Spacing
    Mid Dist/Offset: The opening is positioned halfway between two elements along the trace and offset from another reference element. The reference element will be the anchor point.
    • References: Select two or more reference planes.
    • Chain: Select the Chain check box to make the end reference of an opening as the start reference for another opening.
    Offset/Offset: The opening is positioned along the trace at the defined offset value from the reference plane.
    1. Select one or more reference planes or panels.
    2. Enter the offset value to be applied on the opening from the reference plane.

    • Trans./Vert. Parameters
      • Offset: Enter a value by which the opening will be offset from the anchor point in the horizontal or vertical direction.
      • Anchor Point
    • Orientation: Specify the angle to rotate the opening around the anchor point.

  9. In the Contour tab, edit the values of the unlocked opening parameters.
