Creating Openings on Profile

Opening on Profile lets you create openings on profiles for various purposes.

  1. From the Category list, select the category for opening.
  2. In the Applied to box, select a profile on which you want to create the opening.
  3. From the Method list, select one of the following methods and specify the necessary inputs:

    • Standard:

      From the Direction options, select Trans. or Vert..

      Click to define the opening:

      Select type, contour, and positioning method.
      In the Position tab, specify the following parameters:

      Longitudinal Parameters:

      • Positioning mode: Spacing/Offset
        1. Reference Point: Select the start or the end extremity from where the opening will be computed.
        2. Offset: Enter a value by which the opening will be offset from the reference point.
        3. Instances and Spacing
      • Positioning mode: Mid Dist/Offset
        1. References: Select two or more reference planes.
        2. Chain: Select the Chain check box to make the end reference of an opening as the start reference for another opening.
      • Positioning mode: Offset/Offset
        1. Select one or more reference planes or panels.
        2. Enter the offset value to be applied on the opening from the reference plane.

      Trans./Vert. Parameters:

      • Offset: Enter a value by which the opening will be offset from the anchor point in the horizontal or vertical direction.
      • Anchor Point

      Orientation: Enter an angle to rotate the opening around the anchor point.

      Select the Preview check box, to preview the opening in the 3D area.

    • Sketch:

      Click to sketch the opening contour.

    • 3D Object:

      In the Cutting element box, select a 3D object such as a closed surface, a solid, or a volume.

  4. Optional: For standard and sketched openings, select the required forming mode from the Forming list.
