Type
In the Type box, select the type of the opening.
- Rectangular
- Round
- Oblong
- Catalog
For the Catalog type, you can create a user-defined opening by selecting a contour from the opening table defined in Data Setup.
Contour
In the Contour box, select the available contours.
The table browser for selection of opening contour appears when you click More... in the Contour box.
- This list is generated from the opening table defined in the Resources
Catalog or the Resources Library resource specified
in Data Setup.
Note:
If no Resources Catalog or
Resources Library resource is set in Data Setup, the Type list becomes
unavailable. But you can still create the catalog type opening by clicking
More... in the Contour list and:
- Selecting the required opening reference from the catalog or library, if the
Structure Reference Catalog or the
Structure Reference Library resource is set in
Data Setup.
- Searching the required opening reference in the database, if no
Structure Reference Catalog or
Structure Reference Library resource is set in
Data Setup.
- Filters are applied depending upon the opening type and contour.
- + sign near Contour Name box and Contour Type box indicates the filter applied. Click Reset Filter to remove filter.
Position
In the Position list, select the appropriate option to define the location and orientation of the opening.
You can define location of the opening using following options:
- Spacing / Offset
The opening is positioned along the trace from a reference point at the defined spacing and offset values.
- Mid Dist / Offset
- The opening is positioned halfway between two elements along the trace and offset from another reference element. The reference element will be the anchor point.
- Offset / Offset
- The opening is positioned along the trace at the defined offset value from the reference plane.
Parameters
In the Parameters area, you can specify different parameters, anchor point and orientation angle.
- Longitudinal Parameters
- For Spacing / Offset position mode:
- Reference Point
- Select the start or end extremity as a reference point from where the opening is computed. The name of the extremity may change according to the name of the directions of the bounding box.
- Offset
- In the Offset box, enter the value by which the opening is offset from the reference point.
- Instance(s)
- In the Instances box, enter the number of openings you want to create on the profile.
- Spacing
- In the Spacing box, enter the value to maintain the spacing between the openings.
- Repetition mode
- Select any one of the repetition mode:
- Absolute(default mode)
- Relative
Let us take a profile having length 1000 mm. For the absolute mode, if the offset = 50 mm with 3 instances and a spacing of 200 mm, then the horizontal curvilinear abscissa will be 250 mm, 450 mm and 650 mm.
For the relative mode, the value is multiplied by the length of the trace. In this case, the offset value will be relative too. Here the offset value will become 0.05, the spacing will be 0.2 and the horizontal relative abscissa will be 0.25 , 0.45 and 0.65.
If you switch from relative to absolute or from absolute to relative, the values are updated from their previous values.
- For Mid Dist / Offset position mode:
- References
- Select two or more reference planes or panels.
- Chain
- Select the Chain check box to make the end reference of an opening as the start reference for another opening.
By default, the check box is clear.
- For Offset / Offset position mode:
- References
- Select one or more reference planes or panels.
- Offset
- Enter the offset value to be applied on the opening from the reference plane.
- Trans./Vert. Parameters
- Offset
- In the Offset box, enter the value by which the opening will be offset from the anchor point in the horizontal or vertical direction.
- Anchor Point
- In the Anchor Point list, select the appropriate anchor point to get the correct orientation of opening.
- Orientation
- Angle
- In the Angle box, type the value or use the arrows to change the value. This is the angle of rotation of the opening around the anchor point.
- Preview
- Select the Preview check box to preview the openings on profile in the work area.
Contour
In the Contour tab, you can specify the opening dimensions.
Note:
The Status column indicates if the parameter value is editable or not. If the status is Locked, then the value is not editable. You can edit only unlocked values.
