Using Power Copy

You can create copy of the structural elements and instantiate them using the Power Copy. Instantiating the object helps in duplicating the objects by changing only the required properties.

Before you begin: Open a structure containing panels, stiffeners, openings and beams in the Structure Functional Design app.
  1. From the Compass, click Generative Shape Design.
You are switched to Generative Shape Design app.
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click , click Power Copy .
The Power Copy Definition dialog box appears.
  3. Select the structural elements to be copied in the tree.

Note: You can directly select panels, openings, beams, parametric panel, standalone plate in the tree. The other structural elements like stiffeners, stiffeners on free edge, flanges and end cuts are selected along with the supporting panel.

The selected components and the inputs of the selected components are displayed in the Power Copy Definition dialog box.
  4. Create a power copy.

For more information about creating power copies, see Generative Shape Design User's Guide: Managing Power Copies: Creating Power Copies.

The power copy is created and displayed in the tree.
  5. To instantiate the power copy, right-click the PowerCopy.x, and select PowerCopy.x object > Instantiate.
The Insert Object dialog box appears displaying the inputs. By default, the instantiation mode is One Step Instantiation. For more information, see Generative Shape Design User's Guide: Managing Power Copies: Instantiating Power Copies Using One Step Instantiation.
  6. Click Use identical name to automatically select all the elements with the same name.
The Selected column is updated with the same inputs.
  7. To change the required inputs, select the row and change the input.
The modified input is displayed in the Selected column.
Important: You can select the Repeat check box to be able to repeat the instantiation. In this case, once you have clicked OK in the Insert Object dialog box, the latter remains open, the Power Copy's Inputs are listed and ready to be replaced by new inputs, as described above. To exit the command, you need to clear the Repeat check box or click Cancel.
  8. Click OK to finish the instantiation.

The structural element is copied. The copied elements are created as per the defined destination.
